About The Farm:
Bad Dog Farms has locations in the Eastern Sierra mountains of California on Nuumu (Northern Paiute) land as well as the Southeast region of Louisiana on ChahtaYakni (Choctaw) land. We acknowledge the genocide and forced removal of the indigenous people on these lands.
BDF is a human scale farming operation, meaning we use no heavy machinery on the land in which we grow. We are growing unique flowers, vegetables and herbs at 7,250ft elevation in California with the intention of bringing drought tolerant specialized seed to others in this extreme region for food security and sovereignty. We also offer our elite blooms for weddings and curated events in the area during our summer growing season.
BDF hopes to create a special gathering space in the Southeast Louisiana location. Art, food, music and collaboration are priorities at BDF to make systemic change in the current world. Our location in Louisiana offers floral CSA offerings in spring and early summer as well as our luxurious floral designs for weddings and special events in New Orleans and surrounding Southeast Louisiana communities.
BDF focuses on soil health by no till methods, pesticide free growing, seasonality, mulch, and maintaining native habitat for pollinators. We are constantly in observation and listening to the environment around us.
We are focused on our intentions. Being in nature. Being kind. Tending to the soil. Tending to the community. Creating space. Creating art. Growing food. Growing knowledge. Alignment and Balance.
Meet the Farmer:
Samantha grew up hiking and exploring her home near Mammoth Lakes, California. Moving to Louisiana when she was 18 and traveling most her life lead her to a life filled with extreme love for botany, people, and food. Bad Dog Farms is Samantha’s brainchild, and while still in its infancy we expect big things to take place on our farm.
